Reviewers’ own scores: Tom’s Guide 3/5

Early verdict: only a few in-depth reviews are out so far. We update this page as more reviews are published.

The verdict

This is an early verdict, based on one in-depth review from Tom’s Guide, which gave the SoundForm ANC 3 out of 5. It found weak noise cancelling, bright and shallow-bass sound, and a heavy fit, but reliable connections and a price it called good value. It was tested mainly against kids’ headphones, so it says little about how these compare with adult ANC headphones.

Best for: Buyers looking for low-cost headphones with reliable connections and audio sharing, who don’t expect strong noise cancelling.
Skip it if: You want effective noise cancelling, warm and full bass, or headphones light enough for long adult wear.

What reviewers liked

  • Tom’s Guide found wired and Bluetooth connections stable, with no dropouts on an iPad and a Galaxy phone
  • Audio sharing between two headphones, wired or wireless, worked well in testing
  • Tom’s Guide called the $39 price good value and a middle-ground option
  • Build survived drop and twisting tests, and the muted colours look less like kids’ headphones
  • Specifications list 45 hours of battery with ANC on and 60 hours with it off

What they didn’t

  • Noise cancelling muffled the music and did not block keyboard typing
  • Sound is bright and echoey with shallow bass
  • At 10.2 oz, the heaviest kids’ headphones Tom’s Guide tested, and the headband became uncomfortable
  • Only one outlet has reviewed it, so these findings are untested against other opinions

In detail

Sound quality: 6.4/10

Tom’s Guide is the only outlet we found that covered sound quality, so there is nothing yet to confirm or contradict its view. It described the tuning as bright with some echo, not warm and compact. Treble and mids came through clearly, but bass was shallow. That points to a sound that suits vocals and detail more than anyone who wants weight in the low end. Tom’s Guide treated this as a notable weakness, not a fault that ruins listening. Its testing was done in a kids’ headphones comparison, so the sound is judged against that group.

Noise cancelling: 4.7/10

This is the weakest area in the review. Tom’s Guide found the noise cancelling does little to block outside sound, and it specifically noted that keyboard typing still came through. It also said that turning ANC on muffles the headphones’ own sound, so the feature hurts playback while giving little in return. Only one outlet tested this, so we can’t say whether other units or other reviewers would see the same. Still, if effective noise cancelling is the main reason you’re buying, this review gives you good reason for caution.

Comfort & fit: 5.6/10

Tom’s Guide found comfort mixed. At 10.2 ounces, these were the heaviest kids’ headphones it tested, heavier than the iClever Q950. The child who used them reported that the headband cushion became uncomfortable over longer sessions. The earcups fit a child’s ears comfortably, but they squeezed adult ears after extended wear. That matters if you were hoping to share them across ages. This is one tester’s experience, so fit may vary with head size, and no other outlet has weighed in.

Battery life: too little evidence to score

There isn’t enough evidence to score battery life. Tom’s Guide lists 45 hours with ANC on and 60 hours with ANC off, but it took these figures from the specifications and did not say it had tested them. Treat them as the manufacturer’s numbers until a reviewer runs its own battery test. No other outlet we read covered battery life, so we can’t offer any real-world guidance yet.

App & connectivity: 8.1/10

Tom’s Guide was positive on connectivity. It reported clean sound over both the wired 3.5mm input and Bluetooth, with no noticeable dips or drops when paired with an iPad and a Galaxy phone. Audio sharing between two headphones, either through the wired port or the wireless RockStar Mode, worked well. Its one complaint was that Bluetooth 5.4 is not the newest version, since the iClever Q950 uses 6.0, which Tom’s Guide says offers better stability and power efficiency. The headphones charge over USB-C. The review gave no verdict on the app, codecs, multipoint or latency, so those remain unknown.

Value: 7.6/10

Tom’s Guide called the headphones good value at $39. It gave no market for that price, so check what they cost where you live. It compared them with kids’ over-ear headphones, which it said typically cost $20 or more, and noted they cost half as much as the iClever Q950. It described them as a middle ground between premium kids’ headphones and budget alternatives. This is a mild endorsement from one outlet, and it wasn’t measured against other ANC headphones. Given the weak noise cancelling it found, the value case depends on what you plan to use them for.

How we put this together

We read the reviews and articles listed above and weigh each by how much it should count: in-depth, hands-on testing with measurements counts most; launch news and press-release rewrites count least; sponsored content is penalised. Category scores are our trust-weighted summary of what those sources found, set to the same 10-point scale reviewers use; the reviewers’ own scores, where published, are listed above. This page was compiled with AI assistance and checked against the source notes. All findings belong to the outlets credited above; follow the links to read their full reviews. How we score.
