The verdict

Reviewers largely agree that the Redmi Note 17 Pro is a long-lasting phone with an excellent display and a strong update promise. The camera is the clear weak spot, and the processor is not the fastest at its price. Evidence comes from three outlets and four reviews, so treat this as a solid but not exhaustive picture.

Best for: Buyers who put battery life, screen brightness and long-term updates ahead of camera quality.
Skip it if: You take a lot of low-light or zoom photos, or you want a light phone with a premium feel.

  • HyperOS 3 shows noticeable ads
  • 67W charging took 96 minutes from 20 to 100 percent in 91mobiles’ test

In detail

Camera: 6.1/10

The camera is where reviewers are least happy. NotebookCheck notes that the main sensor has been swapped for a smaller ISOCELL JN that gathers noticeably less light than the one in the previous Note 15 Pro. It also found autofocus struggling in the dark and zoom shots looking poor, since there is no telephoto lens and cropping exposes the sensor’s limits. 91mobiles was kinder in daylight: the 50MP main camera gave pleasing colour and detail, and the 16MP front camera produced competitive portraits. It still found low-light results behind rivals, with overexposed scenes and lost shadow detail.

Battery life: 9.5/10

Battery life is the strongest point in the reviews. 91mobiles recorded a PCMark result of 21 hours 55 minutes, which it called the best in the Rs 40,000 bracket, and found the phone comfortably lasts two days in real use. Its YouTube test lost 4 percent in an hour. NotebookCheck measured nearly 30 hours of Wi-Fi web browsing. 91mobiles also lists a 9,000mAh capacity, among the largest in its segment. The manufacturer’s claim of 3.5+ days per charge was not confirmed in the testing we read, but the measured results back up the general picture.

Performance: 6.8/10

Performance is adequate rather than class-leading. 91mobiles measured an AnTuTu score of 949,300 and found the Snapdragon 6s Gen 4 behind the POCO X8 Power, OnePlus Nord CE6 and Vivo T5. Digit recorded a lower AnTuTu result of 8,79,583. The picture is better under sustained load: 91mobiles saw 31 percent CPU throttling, better than every rival it tested, and the phone kept 67.3 percent of peak output in a stress test, ahead of the POCO and Vivo. Digit found everyday use smooth, with quick app launches and fluid multitasking.

Display: 9.1/10

Both outlets that measured the display came away impressed. NotebookCheck found the AMOLED panel about twice as bright as the Galaxy A57 in standard use. It recorded peaks of 4034 cd/m² in its APL measurement and 4440 cd/m² in HDR mode. Digit measured 2,700 nits peak on a lux meter in its test lab. NotebookCheck also found both high-frequency PWM dimming, up to 3,571 Hz, and DC dimming at higher brightness. Digit described vibrant but not oversaturated colours, deep blacks and smooth scrolling at 120Hz.

Software: 8.4/10

Update support is a clear plus. 91mobiles reports four years of OS updates and six years of security patches, with the phone shipping on Android 16-based HyperOS 3. One of its articles puts the end of patches at 2032. NotebookCheck also confirms six years of security updates. 91mobiles lists a HyperAI suite that includes an offline interpreter, live transcription and a writing assistant. The main complaint comes from NotebookCheck, which found that HyperOS 3 shows noticeable advertisements.

Charging: 7.1/10

Charging is good but not fast for the class, and the evidence here is thinner. The phone supports 67W wired charging, which Smartprix Bytes notes is quicker than the Note 17 5G’s 45W. In 91mobiles’ own test, going from 20 to 100 percent took 96 minutes. A separate 91mobiles article estimated about 80 minutes from empty to full and noted the Pro Max charges faster at 100W. 91mobiles also lists 22.5W reverse wireless charging. Given the huge battery, long charge times are less of a daily concern.

Design & build: 7.8/10

Durability is strong; feel is less so. 91mobiles lists IP66, IP68, IP69 and IP69K protection. NotebookCheck adds TÜV SÜD certification for 2 metres of water for 72 hours and SGS certification for 3-metre drops onto granite. The downsides are weight and materials. At 226 grams, 91mobiles warns it may tire the wrist in one-handed use. NotebookCheck says the phone has grown heavier across Note generations and that the plastic back and frame feel less than premium. 91mobiles lists Cloud Blue, Purple Vibe and Stealth Black colours.

Value: 6.7/10

Value opinions are mixed, and fewer outlets covered it. Rs 36,999 is the starting price quoted by 91mobiles and Digit for the 8GB RAM and 128GB model; we have no pricing for other markets. Digit says that undercuts the Vivo S2 FE (Rs 38,999) and Motorola Edge 70 Pro (Rs 39,999), with a balanced mix of battery and charging. NotebookCheck disagrees on the camera: it calls cost-cutting there inappropriate at this price, given the weak low-light and zoom results. Smartprix Bytes notes NFC and eSIM, which the Note 17 5G lacks. 91mobiles gives the phone 8/10 overall.

How we put this together

We read the reviews and articles listed above and weigh each by how much it should count: in-depth, hands-on testing with measurements counts most; launch news and press-release rewrites count least; sponsored content is penalised. Category scores are our trust-weighted summary of what those sources found, set to the same 10-point scale reviewers use; the reviewers’ own scores, where published, are listed above. This page was compiled with AI assistance and checked against the source notes. All findings belong to the outlets credited above; follow the links to read their full reviews. How we score.
