The verdict
Reviewers broadly agree the Vivo V80 is a well-built phone with very good battery life, a bright, smooth display and a capable main and 3x telephoto camera. The weaker points are uneven performance under heavy load, a soft ultra-wide camera, no wireless charging and a higher starting price than the V70. It suits people who put battery, screen and looks first, and less so those who want top gaming speed or the lowest price. Four outlets published their own scores: 91mobiles, Beebom and MySmartPrice Gear each gave 8/10, and TechPP gave 3.9/5.
Best for: Buyers who want long battery life, a bright smooth screen and a good daylight camera in a premium-looking phone.
Skip it if: You want the strongest gaming performance, wireless charging, or the lowest price in this class.

What reviewers liked
- Battery life is strong across outlets: Beebom got about 1.5 days of mixed heavy use and MySmartPrice Gear measured over 25 hours in PCMark
- Bright, smooth 144Hz AMOLED that stays readable in strong sun
- Main and 3x telephoto cameras give punchy, detailed daylight shots
- Premium-looking, comfortable build with IP68/IP69 water and dust resistance
- Handles everyday use and app switching quickly, per Beebom
What they didn’t
- Ultra-wide camera is the weakest lens and low-light results divide reviewers
- Performance trails some similarly priced rivals per 91mobiles, and Beebom saw throttling in long gaming sessions
- No wireless charging, which Digit calls disappointing at this price
- 91mobiles calls the starting price a notable rise over the V70
In detail
Camera: 8.5/10
Outlets agree the main camera and the 3x telephoto do well in good light. 91mobiles found detailed images with punchy colour and good contrast, and called the 50MP telephoto useful for portraits and zoom shots, though digital zoom detail is limited. TechPP also saw bright, punchy daylight shots with slight oversharpening. The ultra-wide is the weak spot: TechPP found it lacks detail, and Digit called it soft. Low light divides opinion. Beebom rated night photos outstanding and Digit found clean low-light results, but 91mobiles saw more noise, less sharp detail and only a marginal night mode gain over the Reno 16. TechPP found the telephoto shows less detail than the pricier Vivo X200T up close.
Battery life: 9.1/10
Battery life is the most consistent strength. The phone has a 7,200mAh battery, and every outlet that gave a verdict was positive. Beebom got about 1.5 days with medium to heavy use that included Netflix, YouTube, gaming and photography. MySmartPrice Gear measured 25 hours 29 minutes in PCMark, while 91mobiles measured 18 hours 36 minutes in the same test. 91mobiles said it lasts a full day and into the next, and a 30-minute YouTube session used 4 percent, which it called fairly standard. Digit also called endurance excellent but gave no figures. Expect a full day with room to spare, and often more.
Performance: 7.6/10
Reviewers agree the Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 handles everyday tasks, and Beebom found app switching quick and fluid. Beyond that the picture is mixed. 91mobiles noticed occasional sluggishness in multitasking and when opening the camera, possibly because of the software. It also said the chip scores slightly below the V70’s and trails the OnePlus 15R and iQOO 15R at the same or lower price, though that comparison was not a test it ran itself. Beebom saw 120 FPS in BGMI and CoD, but throttling after 30 minutes and below 60 FPS in Genshin Impact. MySmartPrice Gear measured strong stability: 95% CPU performance under sustained load and a 99.70% 3DMark stability result. It is a solid daily phone, not a gaming specialist.
Display: 8.7/10
The 6.59-inch 1.5K 144Hz AMOLED earns broad praise. Beebom found vivid colour, smooth use and no trouble in harsh afternoon sun. Digit measured about 2,850 nits in high brightness mode and found 144Hz makes scrolling and animations feel fluid. MySmartPrice Gear measured a lower peak of 2,270 nits, well under the 5,000-nit figure that is claimed. 91mobiles called the panel crisp and vibrant, but said the 144Hz step up from the V70 is barely noticeable. TechPP noted deep blacks and rich colour, but found that running maximum resolution and 144Hz together causes noticeable choppiness.
Software: 8.3/10
Evidence here is thin, so treat this as an early read. No outlet we read gave a detailed hands-on verdict on the software. 91mobiles describes OriginOS 7, based on Android 17, with a refreshed interface, extra customisation and themes such as Dynamic Glow and Pet Pals. The same outlet noted occasional sluggishness that may come from the software. Smartprix Bytes lists a long set of AI tools and an update commitment, but its page appears to mix in other models and was not tested, so we are not relying on it. Check update terms for your market before buying.
Charging: 7.5/10
Evidence is limited. Beebom is the only outlet that measured charging: the 90W charger took the phone to 25% in 22 minutes and a full charge in 88 minutes, which is fast but not close to an hour. Digit did not give a wired speed verdict, but criticised the lack of wireless charging as disappointing at this price. Other outlets only listed specs, and one source quoted a different charging figure that appears to cover another model, so we have set it aside. Given the large battery, a full charge taking about an hour and a half is the main practical point.
Design & build: 9.1/10
Reviewers like the V80’s look and feel, though few go deep. Beebom praised the curved side rails for comfortable grip without hand fatigue, good fingerprint resistance, and the aluminium frame, and it lists IP68/69 protection, a 203g weight and 7.69mm thickness. 91mobiles found the floating camera design premium and compact, and noted IP68/IP69 and drop certification. TechPP liked the clean ZEISS branding and clicky, one-hand-friendly buttons, but said it is slightly thicker and heavier than the V70. Digit called it reasonably slim and light. FoneArena’s hands-on found the metal frame premium. We found no real design complaints.
Value: 6.8/10
Evidence is thin; only 91mobiles gave a real value verdict. It listed a start of Rs 62,999 for the 8GB+128GB version, against Rs 59,999 for the V70, and called that a significant rise. It said the improvements in design, battery, display refresh rate and software justify the upgrade mainly for buyers who prioritise those features. MySmartPrice Gear gave no price verdict. Smartprix Bytes quoted a lower price, but it appears to refer to a different, cheaper phone, so we have not used it. Compare local pricing before deciding, since only one outlet’s view is available.

How we put this together
We read the reviews and articles listed above and weigh each by how much it should count: in-depth, hands-on testing with measurements counts most; launch news and press-release rewrites count least; sponsored content is penalised. Category scores are our trust-weighted summary of what those sources found, set to the same 10-point scale reviewers use; the reviewers’ own scores, where published, are listed above. This page was compiled with AI assistance and checked against the source notes. All findings belong to the outlets credited above; follow the links to read their full reviews. How we score.
