What’s new

The Xiaomi 18 Pro is the smaller of two flagships Xiaomi launched in China on 23 September 2026, priced from CNY 5,999 for the 12GB + 256GB version. Android Central reports it is the first phone on the market with a Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 series chip, and highlights its 2.7-inch rear display and a privacy screen. In-depth reviews are not out yet, so the performance and battery figures below are Xiaomi’s or the outlets’ reported specs, not test results.

  • Android Central reports the 18 Pro is the first phone to ship with a Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 series chip. Xiaomi paired the 18 Pro with the Gen 6, which Qualcomm describes as built for efficiency.
  • Android Central says the privacy screen uses location-based triggers, so it hides sensitive content such as notifications and floating windows depending on where you are.
  • Android Central’s hands-on says the 2.7-inch rear display can show notifications, toggle features and preview selfies taken with the rear 200MP cameras. Android Central’s launch report adds that Xiaomi’s Xiao AI powers mini-app creation, timers and reminders on it.
  • 91mobiles reports a 7,000mAh battery with 100W wired, 50W wireless and 27W reverse wired charging.
  • Android Central lists four memory and storage options in China: 12/256GB, 12/512GB, 16/512GB and 16/1TB. A transparent red Special Edition is also listed.
  • Android Central says a global launch was mentioned at Snapdragon Summit but gave no date. 91mobiles says Xiaomi confirmed global availability, and Xiaomi India’s X account posted about it. Notebookcheck says the phone can already be imported.

Early impressions

Android Central: Android Central had a short hands-on at Snapdragon Summit, at an event Qualcomm invited it to. It found the design close to the previous generation: thick and boxy, yet surprisingly light. It liked the Galaxy Blue colour in sunlight and the transparent version. It called the rear display useful for notifications, toggles and selfies, and found the customisable Privacy Display compelling.

What reviews will need to show

  • Whether the privacy screen’s location-based triggers work reliably, and whether it is as effective as Xiaomi claims compared with Samsung’s version without hurting image quality.
  • How long the 7,000mAh battery lasts in everyday use, and whether the 100W wired and 50W wireless charging speeds hold up in testing.
  • Whether the 2.7-inch rear display is useful day to day, including selfies with the rear cameras and the Xiao AI features.
  • How the 200MP main and telephoto cameras perform in real use. Notebookcheck notes the 18 Pro’s main sensor, called Light Hunter 960, lacks the LOFIC technology of the Pro Max’s sensor, so low-light shots with bright lights are worth checking.
