The verdict

Reviewers from six outlets mostly rate the Vivo V70 well. Its cameras, bright display, battery life and slim, water-resistant build get the most praise. The weaker points are the pre-installed apps, a modest chip in some versions and the ultrawide camera. It suits people who care about photos, battery and a compact, premium-feeling phone more than top gaming speed.

Best for: Anyone who wants strong portraits, selfies and video, plus long battery life, in a slim and compact phone.
Skip it if: You want top gaming performance, a clean ad-free software experience or wireless charging.

What reviewers liked

  • Main, telephoto and selfie cameras are strong, with good portraits and video
  • Battery lasts a full day at minimum, and often a day and a half or more
  • Bright, colour-accurate 120Hz AMOLED display that reads well in sun
  • Slim, premium build with IP68 and IP69 ratings
  • Software update promise of four major Android versions and six years of security patches

What they didn’t

  • The 8MP ultrawide camera lacks detail and is the weakest lens
  • Pre-installed apps and ads draw criticism
  • Performance is only fair for gaming on the Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 version
  • No wireless charging, and low-frequency PWM flicker on the display

In detail

Camera: 8.4/10

Most outlets rate the main, telephoto and selfie cameras highly. TechPP found the main and periscope telephoto lenses impressive in daylight and low light, with excellent video and sharp selfies. Beebom praised colour, detail, bokeh and clean 4K60 video, and Smartprix Bytes liked the 3.5x telephoto and Zeiss portraits. They split on low light: MySmartPrice Gear saw visible grain and Beebom noted telephoto struggles. NotebookCheck found the main camera oversharpened with non-neutral colours. Every outlet that mentioned the 8MP ultrawide found it softer and weaker than the other lenses.

Battery life: 9.1/10

Every verdict on battery life is positive, though the size of the praise varies. MySmartPrice Gear measured well over a day in PCMark, and Beebom reported 1.5 to 2 days of normal use. Android Central, in a hands-on look, found about a day and a half with medium use. Smartprix Bytes got 8 to 10 hours of screen-on time under moderate use with 5G active. TechPP called it adequate for nearly a full day. NotebookCheck tested a European model with a smaller battery capacity than the one others used, and still got a good result.

Performance: 7.9/10

Most outlets call performance good, but they tested different chips, which muddies the picture. Digit, Smartprix Bytes, Beebom and MySmartPrice Gear recorded AnTuTu scores of roughly 1.43 to 1.47 million. Digit and MySmartPrice Gear saw little throttling, and Smartprix Bytes saw a 41°C peak while Beebom measured 44.6°C. Games like BGMI and Call of Duty Mobile ran smoothly, though Digit noted rivals offer 120fps and Smartprix Bytes found Genshin Impact at Very High unstable. TechPP and NotebookCheck were critical of the Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 version, and TechPP noticed lag under heavy use.

Display: 9.1/10

The display is one of the most praised parts of the phone. NotebookCheck measured peak brightness of 3,800 nits, and Digit measured 3,160 nits with accurate colour and wide P3 coverage. Beebom said it had no outdoor visibility issues, and Smartprix Bytes called it readable in direct sun. Peak brightness figures differ by outlet, but all agree it is bright and sharp. The gaps are minor: Beebom and Smartprix Bytes noted it lacks variable refresh (LTPO), and NotebookCheck found 90Hz PWM flicker that could cause eyestrain. Android Central’s hands-on look found it brighter than the V60.

Software: 6.7/10

Software is the weakest area, and the evidence is thinner here. TechPP and Beebom both criticised the pre-installed third-party apps, and Beebom also mentioned ads and about 12 preloaded apps on a phone priced above Rs 50,000 in India. MySmartPrice Gear found the software fluid and well optimised, but called Vivo Store notifications excessive. TechPP and NotebookCheck both reported the update promise of four major Android versions and six years of security patches, without making much of it. Overall, the reviews we read suggest some tidying-up after setup.

Charging: 7.5/10

Reviewers consistently list 90W wired charging, and Beebom noted there is no wireless charging. Only two outlets timed it, with different results. Smartprix Bytes found a full charge in under an hour, while Beebom measured under 90 minutes for 0 to 100%. TechPP reported 50 to 60% in under 30 minutes. Smartprix Bytes also grumbled that the charger uses an older USB-A port rather than USB-C. The other outlets mostly just listed the spec, so there is no wider verdict on real-world charging speed.

Design & build: 9.1/10

Outlets broadly agree the V70 is slim, compact and premium. TechPP described a flagship-like metal and glass build with a practical flat display, and NotebookCheck praised the thin bezels and its survival of 1.8m drops. Digit, Smartprix Bytes and TechPP all noted IP68 and IP69 protection. Complaints are small: Digit found the matte back slippery, Smartprix Bytes and Digit noted camera-bump wobble on a table, and TechPP found the edges sharp without a case. MySmartPrice Gear found the design familiar rather than sleek, while Android Central liked the cleaner camera module.

Value: 8.1/10

Evidence on value is thin, so treat this as an early view. Only TechPP gave a verdict, calling the V70 the best flagship-level photography phone in the Rs 50,000 to 55,000 segment in India, competitive with pricier devices. That praise is about cameras only. FoneArena listed launch prices of Rs 45,999 for the V70 and Rs 51,999 for the V70 Elite in India, without judging value. No outlet in our reading weighed the phone’s weaker areas against its price, so there is little agreement or disagreement to report.

How we put this together

We read the reviews and articles listed above and weigh each by how much it should count: in-depth, hands-on testing with measurements counts most; launch news and press-release rewrites count least; sponsored content is penalised. Category scores are our trust-weighted summary of what those sources found, set to the same 10-point scale reviewers use; the reviewers’ own scores, where published, are listed above. This page was compiled with AI assistance and checked against the source notes. All findings belong to the outlets credited above; follow the links to read their full reviews. How we score.
