The verdict

Reviewers broadly like the Edge 70 Pro, mainly for its battery life, fast chipset and light, durable body. The main disagreements are over the telephoto camera, how bright the display really is, and whether the price is justified. It suits people who want long battery life and strong everyday cameras more than long-range zoom.

Best for: Buyers who want a light, durable phone with a big battery, fast performance and strong main and ultrawide cameras.
Skip it if: You want a dependable telephoto lens, the longest update promise, or a clear value deal at its price.

What reviewers liked

  • Battery lasts a full day or more in testing, with lighter users nearing two days
  • Dimensity 8500 Extreme chipset is very fast in benchmarks and games
  • Main and ultrawide cameras do well in daylight, dynamic range and night shots
  • Slim, light, grippy body with IP68/IP69 and MIL-STD-810H protection
  • Smooth 144Hz display with 90W wired charging

What they didn’t

  • Telephoto is disputed: some outlets say it is missing, and zoom past 5x is weak
  • Display brightness results and colour tuning vary between reviewers
  • Update promise is three OS years and five security years, behind some rivals
  • Plastic frame is called a downgrade, and the value case is weak at the launch price

In detail

Camera: 8.4/10

Trusted Reviews, Digit, Beebom and MySmartPrice Gear all rate the main camera well. Trusted Reviews found vibrant daylight shots and a convincing Night mode, while Beebom saw strong dynamic range, better night shots and a detailed 50MP ultrawide. Telephoto is where they split. Trusted Reviews liked a 3.5x periscope lens, but Digit and Beebom note there is no dedicated telephoto, and Digit calls the setup a downgrade from the Edge 60 Pro. Beebom says software zoom degrades past 5x, and Trusted Reviews found 30x and 50x crops unusable. Trusted Reviews also noted wind noise in video and said 4K at 60fps is back.

Battery life: 9.3/10

Battery is the clearest strength. Trusted Reviews measured more than 14 hours of heavy use and said lighter use can stretch to two or three days. MySmartPrice Gear averaged about 8 hours of screen-on time, and its PCMark run lasted just over 16 hours, which it called among the best in its price segment. Beebom was more measured, at roughly 7.5 hours of screen-on time, calling it solid but not exceptional. Every outlet that tested it found the 6500mAh battery lasts at least a full day. FoneArena and Smartprix Bytes only listed specifications.

Performance: 9.2/10

All four outlets find the Dimensity 8500 Extreme very fast. Digit and MySmartPrice Gear both recorded AnTuTu results above 2.1 million, and Beebom got about 2.03 million. Digit saw stable 120fps in BGMI and COD Mobile, and MySmartPrice Gear saw BGMI at a steady 112 FPS. Sustained load is less settled. Beebom reported no overheating or throttling after hours of gaming. MySmartPrice Gear saw noticeable frame rate dips after 30 minutes of intensive play, and Digit saw the CPU throttle to 84%. For everyday use and normal gaming sessions, the verdicts are positive.

Display: 8.4/10

Reviewers agree the 6.8-inch 144Hz panel looks vibrant and moves smoothly, but they differ on brightness. Digit measured 3,080 nits in high brightness mode, found it legible in sunlight and called it among the best in its segment. MySmartPrice Gear measured a peak of only 731 nits against a far higher claimed figure and said outdoor visibility trails competitors. Trusted Reviews found general-use brightness unexceptional and the default colours oversaturated. Beebom liked the deep blacks but noted no Netflix HDR and that most apps cap at 120Hz. Confidence here is medium because the measurements conflict.

Software: 8.0/10

Evidence is thin here: only three outlets commented, and two of them gave little detail. Beebom liked Hello UI on Android 16 for its smooth, improved animations and lack of bloatware. Smartprix Bytes said the smart refresh rate often settles at 90Hz, causing visible microstutters unless you override it. All outlets cite three OS upgrades and five years of security updates. Trusted Reviews criticised that as short next to Google and Samsung, which promise seven years, while Beebom called it decent but not leading. Treat this as an early read.

Charging: 8.0/10

Every outlet cites 90W wired charging. MySmartPrice Gear measured the bundled charger taking the phone from near empty to full in under an hour, and Trusted Reviews reported 50% in 25 minutes and full in 66 minutes. Wireless charging is where the reviews contradict each other. Trusted Reviews and Smartprix Bytes say the phone supports 15W wireless charging, while MySmartPrice Gear says it lacks wireless charging, unlike the cheaper Edge 70. Check this against the exact model you plan to buy before relying on it. Beebom also notes the charger is in the box.

Design & build: 9.0/10

Design earns mostly warm comments. Trusted Reviews, Digit, MySmartPrice Gear and Beebom describe a slim, light phone, with weights quoted between 183 and 190 grams. Trusted Reviews and Digit praise the grippy, premium-feeling finish, and MySmartPrice Gear and Beebom note the fabric back resists fingerprints. IP68/IP69 and MIL-STD-810H protection get praise, with Trusted Reviews rating durability above typical flagship standards. The complaints are the plastic frame, called a downgrade by Trusted Reviews and MySmartPrice Gear, and Smartprix Bytes, which found the styling stale after four generations of similar design.

Value: 7.2/10

Evidence on value is limited to two outlets, so treat it as an early view. Both Beebom and Smartprix Bytes say the missing telephoto lens hurts at this price. Beebom still calls it the best camera phone under Rs 40,000 in India if ultrawide photography matters, and lists the price as ₹39,989 in India, but says the lack of telephoto is a major deal breaker. Smartprix Bytes is more negative, pointing to a ten thousand rupee increase over the predecessor in India and finding it hard to recommend at that price. Smartprix Bytes also noted a noisy vibration motor and aggressive call noise cancellation.

How we put this together

We read the reviews and articles listed above and weigh each by how much it should count: in-depth, hands-on testing with measurements counts most; launch news and press-release rewrites count least; sponsored content is penalised. Category scores are our trust-weighted summary of what those sources found, set to the same 10-point scale reviewers use; the reviewers’ own scores, where published, are listed above. This page was compiled with AI assistance and checked against the source notes. All findings belong to the outlets credited above; follow the links to read their full reviews. How we score.
