The verdict

Across 9 in-depth reviews from 8 outlets, the S26 FE is a capable phone with a very good display, long software support and a strong main camera. The main criticism is value: several outlets say it changes little from the cheaper S25 FE. It suits people who want a polished, lighter Samsung phone and don’t own a recent FE model.

Best for: Buyers upgrading from an older phone who want a bright screen, long software support and good daylight photos.
Skip it if: You already have an S25 FE, or can find it at a clearly lower price, or you care about zoom, low-light photos or heavy gaming.

  • Seven years of software updates with One UI 9 and a full Galaxy AI suite
  • Main camera is detailed with natural colours in daylight
  • Light, slim aluminium build with IP68 water and dust resistance
  • Smooth everyday performance with mainstream games running well

What they didn’t

  • Price rise over the S25 FE for few real upgrades, which most outlets criticised

  • Battery life is a full day in some tests but only daily-charge in others
  • 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage draw complaints, and heavy games push the chip

In detail

Camera: 7.3/10

Outlets agree the 50MP main camera is the strong point. TechRadar, 91mobiles, Digit and SamMobile all describe good detail and natural colour in daylight. The other lenses are less convincing. Tom’s Guide found its 3x zoom poor and 10x and 30x shots washed out. Engadget saw many blurry or overexposed telephoto shots. Trusted Reviews and Smartprix Bytes reported weak low light, with focus misses and noise, and a soft ultrawide. 91mobiles was more positive on ultrawide, selfies and low light. T3 found the 3x zoom useful for travel. Digit gave no verdict on zoom or low light.

Battery life: 6.8/10

Verdicts are mixed and some outlets gave only specs, so confidence is medium. SamMobile measured about 24 hours with 5.5 hours of screen-on time and called it a full day of mixed use. TechRadar called battery life strong for the price, and T3’s hands-on impression was that it lasts beyond a typical day. Android Police measured mixed use about 20% longer than the previous model. Engadget’s video rundown lasted just over 21 hours and it says you will need to charge daily. Tom’s Guide estimated about 17 hours of video streaming and found it unremarkable.

Performance: 7.7/10

Most outlets say the Exynos 2500 feels smooth and fast in daily use. Trusted Reviews says it handles Call of Duty: Mobile, while Digit saw BGMI at 55-60 frames per second with occasional dips. TechRadar liked its benchmark results, especially graphics ray tracing. Limits appear under load. Engadget saw frame drops in Wuthering Waves, and Trusted Reviews said Genshin Impact can’t run at full settings. Digit and 91mobiles noted heat in longer gaming sessions. TechRadar and Smartprix Bytes flagged the 8GB of RAM. Tom’s Guide was the harshest, saying graphics lag the Galaxy A57. SamMobile was the most upbeat.

Display: 8.9/10

This is one of the phone’s best areas. The 6.7-inch 120Hz AMOLED is described as vivid and smooth by most outlets. Digit measured excellent colour accuracy, and Trusted Reviews called it one of the best mid-range displays. The gaps are small. Peak brightness is 1,900 nits against the S26’s 2,600, which Engadget says shows in direct sunlight, though SamMobile and Smartprix Bytes found outdoor use fine. TechRadar and SamMobile noted thick bezels, and Trusted Reviews pointed out that it has no LTPO. Some outlets listed specs without judging the panel.

Software: 9.2/10

Software is a clear strength. Outlets agree on One UI 9 on Android 17 and a seven-year update promise, which Trusted Reviews calls excellent for longevity and security. Digit found the interface smooth with plenty of customisation, and 91mobiles called it polished. Tom’s Guide lists Galaxy AI features such as My Fan Cam, Document Scanner, Audio Eraser and Circle to Search. Indian Express Tech says Audio Eraser now works with Netflix and YouTube. Trusted Reviews is the main dissenter, finding One UI 9 cluttered and hard to customise at first. Many outlets only listed features, so there is little hands-on testing.

Charging: 7.5/10

Outlets agree on 45W wired and 15W wireless charging, the same as the S25 FE according to Trusted Reviews. Most listed the specs without judging them, so confidence is medium. Measured speeds differ. Tom’s Guide reached 72% in 30 minutes and a full charge in 58.5 minutes, which it called quick. Trusted Reviews needed 75 minutes for a full charge and 25 minutes for half. T3 called the wired speed only slightly faster than the S25 FE. Smartprix Bytes criticised the lack of native Qi2, the 15W wireless limit and reverse charging that doesn’t work with newer Galaxy watches.

Design & build: 8.6/10

Most outlets like the build. 91mobiles, TechRadar and Indian Express Tech praise the light 193g aluminium and glass body, IP68 rating and premium look. Digit and Smartprix Bytes liked the fresh colours, including Pistachio. Complaints are minor. Digit found the camera island makes the phone wobble on a flat surface, and Smartprix Bytes noted slight wobble too. SamMobile said the glossy back shows fingerprints quickly. Engadget and Tom’s Guide were coolest on the glossy finish. Engadget also said the phone is slightly bigger and 3g heavier than the S25 FE, and Tom’s Guide said it resembles the Galaxy A57.

Value: 5.5/10

Value is the weakest area and most outlets agree on why. Tom’s Guide and 9to5Google cite a $50 price rise, and SamMobile says the phone costs $100 more than the S25 FE without substantial upgrades. Trusted Reviews notes the S25 FE is available for under £450 against £699 for the 128GB S26 FE, and T3 calls the older model a no-brainer. Tom’s Guide and Engadget are more balanced, noting it costs less than the S26 and S26+. MySmartPrice Gear called it better value than the iPhone 17e at ₹79,999 in India. Indian Express Tech also noted the 128GB of storage.

How we put this together

We read the reviews and articles listed above and weigh each by how much it should count: in-depth, hands-on testing with measurements counts most; launch news and press-release rewrites count least; sponsored content is penalised. Category scores are our trust-weighted summary of what those sources found, set to the same 10-point scale reviewers use; the reviewers’ own scores, where published, are listed above. This page was compiled with AI assistance and checked against the source notes. All findings belong to the outlets credited above; follow the links to read their full reviews. How we score.
