In detail

Camera: 8.6/10

Android Central, Android Authority and 91mobiles found the upgraded main sensor, faster Night Sight and low-light gains to be real improvements, and 91mobiles also praised much better selfies. Trusted Reviews tested the main camera as crisp, and good with moving subjects like babies and pets, but found the telephoto and ultrawide behind the Xiaomi 17 Ultra and the default video washed out. TechRadar saw obvious artifacts at 120x zoom, and Trusted Reviews called that mode a gimmick. DXOMARK rated video strongly, noting some overexposure and a weaker ultrawide. Android Central says the Find X9 Pro and Vivo X300 Pro still lead.

Battery life: 9.2/10

Reviewers who judged battery life are positive. Android Authority used the phone long term and easily got two days from a single charge, once stretching to three. Android Central tested the 5,115mAh battery and got a full day plus, including while travelling and on a heavy photo day with hundreds of shots. It also lasted a few hours longer than the Pixel 9 Pro XL, but not two full days. 9to5Google called the battery solid without giving measurements. Two other outlets only listed specifications, so the evidence is good but not extensive.

Performance: 6.5/10

Outlets agree that everyday use is smooth and better than on past Pixels. Trusted Reviews found daily use exemplary with no jitter, and Android Central noted better multitasking than the previous chip. Raw speed is the weakness. 9to5Google and 91mobiles say the Tensor G6 trails Qualcomm and Apple chips, and Smartprix Bytes found the GPU no better than last generation. Android Authority needed medium settings to make Genshin Impact playable, and Trusted Reviews says it cannot run AAA mobile games. TechRadar recorded Geekbench 6 scores of 2,721 single-core and 7,305 multi-core. 9to5Google found it stayed cool in normal use.

Display: 9.5/10

The display is the most consistently praised part. TechRadar, Trusted Reviews and 91mobiles cite a 3,600-nit peak brightness for the 6.8-inch OLED. TechRadar adds a 120Hz refresh rate. Beebom measured about 3,200 nits and found it usable outdoors without shielding, with deep blacks and vibrant colours. 9to5Google called it excellent in direct sunlight, and Android Authority called it the best display Google has shipped. The gaps are minor: Android Central notes low PWM dimming compared with Chinese rivals, and Smartprix Bytes points to the missing anti-reflective coating and a lower pixel density than the Galaxy S26 Ultra.

Software: 9.0/10

Most outlets like the software. Beebom, Android Central and Android Authority praise a clean Android 17 with no bloatware, and Beebom notes seven years of updates. TechRadar found Rambler voice dictation effective with natural speech. Opinion splits on the AI features. Android Central and Android Authority call the Gemini tools among the best on any phone. TechRadar never saw Proactive Assistance in action, and 9to5Google saw it trigger once and found some Gemini suggestions inaccurate. TechRadar and 9to5Google both consider the HiLight notification light pointless or overcomplicated. Evidence here is more mixed than elsewhere.

Charging: 8.5/10

Charging has the thinnest coverage, with only two outlets giving a verdict. Android Central measured a full charge in about an hour and found 25W wireless charging with Qi 2.2 magnets useful in daily life, even without a protective case. It also lists 45W wired charging, but notes wireless charging is slower than on 80W rivals. Android Authority called full Qi2 compatibility convenient, without measuring speeds or judging wired charging. Other outlets mostly listed specifications, so treat this as an early, positive picture rather than a firm conclusion.

Design & build: 8.2/10

Outlets agree on a solid IP68 build, a refined camera bar and a matte Obsidian finish that TechRadar and Beebom like. Trusted Reviews rates the fit and finish alongside the iPhone 17 Pro. The size is the common complaint: Trusted Reviews found it strains the fingers one-handed at 226g, and Smartprix Bytes and Beebom agree. Scratch resistance is disputed. TechRadar praised the coating, but 9to5Google saw the display scratch deeply within a week, and Android Authority’s test showed scratching at level six, deeper at seven. 9to5Google also found the metal frame smudgy and the Canyon colour less vivid than the marketing images.

Value: 6.4/10

Value is where reviewers differ most, and evidence is moderate. Android Central notes a $100 price rise over the Pixel 10 Pro XL with 12GB RAM instead of 16GB, and calls the phone fundamentally unchanged from the Pixel 9 Pro XL. Trusted Reviews makes the same RAM point at an unchanged £1279. 91mobiles reports a Rs 10,000 rise in India. Android Authority also notes lower base RAM than competitors at the same price, yet its long-term review says the phone offers more than expected at $1,300. Smartprix Bytes says the ₹1,39,999 base model in India undercuts the Galaxy S26 Ultra by about ₹5,000.

How we put this together

We read the reviews and articles listed above and weigh each by how much it should count: in-depth, hands-on testing with measurements counts most; launch news and press-release rewrites count least; sponsored content is penalised. Category scores are our trust-weighted summary of what those sources found, set to the same 10-point scale reviewers use; the reviewers’ own scores, where published, are listed above. This page was compiled with AI assistance and checked against the source notes. All findings belong to the outlets credited above; follow the links to read their full reviews. How we score.
